Daniel “Chino” Marin
Daniel Marin is co-owner, and head boxing coach for Marin Boxing Academy. Prior to owning and operating Marin Boxing Academy, Daniel was a highly-touted national amateur boxer through his youth and as a young adult. In that time, Daniel accomplished the following boxing milestones:

Daniel coaches amateur and professional boxers / MMA competitors, and was the head boxing coach for Straight Blast Gym in Boise, ID for 5+ years. In addition, Daniel trains both private and semi-private clientele of all ages and skill groups.
In addition to co-owning and operating Marin Boxing Academy, Daniel volunteers with several non-profit organizations and educational establishments, coaching at-risk and underprivileged youths, and victims of domestic violence. Daniel has ties to the Boise and surrounding communities, where he spends a great deal of time volunteering with his children.
Ryan Lanham
Ryan is co-owner, operator, and boxing coach at Marin Boxing Academy. Ryan has a 20+year history in striking, including both Muay Thai and Boxing. He has amassed a 1-0 amateur boxing record in the Master’s Class, and prior to Marin Boxing Academy coached Foundations Boxing at Straight Blast Gym in Boise, ID.
Personally, Ryan loves to spend time participating in any physical activities, including boxing, biking, hunting, camping, and generally being outdoors. He also loves spending time doing anything with his wife, two children, and Rhodesian Ridgeback, Griffin.
Kallin Bell
Kallin is an active Amateur Boxer with Marin Boxing Academy holding a stellar 4-1 record, and the 2023 Idaho Golden Gloves Champion. Kallin is truly a student of the sport. He began boxing in the summer of 2019 and since then has constantly studied fight footage to pick up new training and coaching techniques that will improve his skillset, as well as those he coaches.
Kallin was born and raised in the Treasure Valley. When he is not boxing or studying boxing he enjoys spending time with his amazing wife, Brenda, and his pup Andre.
Kallin currently coaches both adult and kids classes at Marin Boxing Academy.
Tanya Prescott
Tanya’s boxing training started 2006 in New York City, coached by Hector Richard Santiago. In 2013, she started teaching group fitness Les Mills BODYCOMBAT and Les Mills BODYPUMP.
Tanya resumed her boxing training in 2020, coached by Daniel Marin and started volunteering to teach boxing in schools and seminars.
Tanya is passionate about boxing and found herself and her community through boxing. Proud of her Polynesian heritage, specifically Samoan and Tongan, Tanya loves spending time with family, friends, large bodies of water, and in the sun.
Valente Trevizo
Meet Valente, an Idaho native whose story takes unexpected turns. Valente has a background in playing the trombone for a large portion of his life. However in 2022, he decided to introduce a bold new chapter by stepping into the boxing ring to start an amateur boxing career, proving that anyone can start and learn the ropes no matter their background.
When not throwing punches, Valente can be found tackling the challenges of bouldering at a nearby climbing gym. He has a passion for seeking new experiences in life; whether that's through travel, music, or sports.
Valente's narrative serves as a living testament that life is an ever-evolving canvas, inviting us to explore new horizons and embrace the unexpected.
Logan Strom
Meet Logan, a current amateur boxer and coach with Marin Boxing Academy. He is a born and raised product of the great state of Idaho.
Growing up on a farm, he was surrounded by hard work and discipline from an early age. His journey in combat sports started, training in multiple martial arts like jiu-jitsu, wrestling, San Soo, and kickboxing before finding his true passion in boxing. With a dozen amateur fights under his belt, he’s now stepped into the professional ranks as one of Marin Boxing Academy’s first pro fighters.
Outside the ring, Logan chase adrenaline—anything that gets the blood pumping, he’s all in.
Jerrod Smith
Jerrod is a dedicated boxing coach at Marin Boxing Academy, where he leads both youth and adult classes, helping students of all ages develop their skills and love for the sport. Jerrod is also the head coach for club boxing at Boise State University, where he continues to foster the next generation of boxers.
Jerrod’s journey in boxing began in 2001 at Al Berro's Boxing Gym in Boise, where he trained under the guidance of local legend James "Jimmy" Berro, the son of the original gym’s founder, Al Berro. Jerrod’s amateur boxing career includes an official 1-0 record, but his passion for the sport extends far beyond his personal bouts.
Throughout his late teens and into early adulthood, Jerrod dabbled in various combat sports but always found himself returning to the sweet science of boxing. Today, he combines his lifelong love of boxing with a deep commitment to teaching others. Jerrod thrives on helping students grow and reach their full potential in the ring, while also fostering a supportive, tight-knit boxing community at both Marin Boxing Academy and Boise State University.
Outside of boxing, Jerrod is a man of many interests. Whether he’s running, hiking, hunting, playing foosball, camping, or smoking delicious meat on the grill, he enjoys living an active and adventurous life. Jerrod has a wonderful wife, two amazing kids, and a resilient black lab named Jack, who survived a rattlesnake bite.
Jerrod’s passion for boxing and his dedication to teaching is matched only by his love for his family and the many hobbies that keep him grounded and connected to the world around him.
Kira Blackman
Let me introduce Kira Blackman.
Currently, Kira serves as the strength and conditioning coach here at Marin Boxing Academy.
Kira has been a member at Marin Boxing Academy since the doors opened 3 years ago. She is a devoted boxer with the team; training not only in classes, she also trains with each of the coaches individually to sharpen her boxing skills and education.
Kira is a 5-year certified through NASM as a CPT, strength and conditioning, and sports nutrition coach. Her passion for movement has brought her to places all around the country to train and learn with coaches from all over the globe. Throughout her career, she has obtained certifications such as Functional Kettlebell Training through PPSC, level 1 and 2 Landmine and RMT specialist through Weck method and Landmine University. She also holds a certification as a Barbell Rehab Method coach through BRM. Kira has attended a number of other workshops and seminars along the way and has had the opportunity to work with many different unconventional and conventional tools.
Not only a student of the sport and her profession, Kira has competed in both powerlifting and bodybuilding, as this was her main focus early on in her career.
However, she feels as though my true passion is in understanding the potential of the body and movement while helping athletes excel to new levels of performance.
Working with the athletes at Marin Boxing Academy is such an amazing way to share her passion and resources with a community of individuals that simply kick butt!
